Rain provides respite from heat in southern districts
Rainfall occurred at isolated places over Tamil Nadu, with rains lashing many parts of southern districts on Wednesday.

People were delighted over the cold weather prevailing in pockets of Nagercoil and its surrounding areas. It rained for about an hour in Nagercoil since 2.30 pm, sources said. Low lying areas were inundated with rain water affecting vehicular traffic for some time.
It also rained in other places of Kanniyakumari district on Tuesday, sources said. Kuzhithurai and Pechiparai in Kanniyakumari recorded 5cm of rainfall.
According to the sources, since the flow of tourists has picked up gradually in the tourism destination of Kanniyakumari, the recent spell of rains provided a conducive atmosphere to the tourists.
Parts of Tirunelveli district also enjoyed the pleasant weather. The rain lashed for about thirty minutes, in Tirunelveli, Palayamkottai, Alangulam and Cheranmahadevi.
Tenkasi and other parts along the Western Ghats also experienced rains, sources said. Some pockets of Kodaikanal town and upper hills of Kodaikanal also experienced about 5cm rainfall on Tuesday night. It had rained for over half an hour after 8 pm.
