Madras University to impart personality development training for teenagers
This summer, University of Madras has decided to come up with courses to train school students on leadership qualities, personality development and to improve studying skills and deal with their career confusions.

Accordingly, the teens would be engaged in interactions both in conventional and non-conventional media like group activities, visual arts among others.
The training on personality development to be conducted by the Department of Counselling Psychology would also help the teenagers develop self-understanding, self-confidence apart from providing memory training, motivational skills and social skills.
Programme convenor Dr S Thenmozhi from University of Madras, in a communique, said that the training would also be a platform for the teens to explore a creative and fun-filled approach to learning about self.
According to the convenor, during the first phase of the programme, students would be taught about self-esteem and self-confidence. Similarly, classes on moral values with storytelling activities would be conducted during the programme.
Other subjects that would be taught during the training session includes robotics, speaking eloquently, effective listening, time management, effective communication and emotional intelligence. On developing social skills, the students would be trained in health and hygiene, etiquette and problem solving.
During the final phase of the programme, the students will be imparted assertiveness quality and interpersonal relationships. Apart from the theory classes, students will be engaged in musical activities, dramatic acts and visual arts towards a renewed understanding of self.
The 15-day training programme for teens would be held from 10 am to 3.30 pm on all working days, added the release.
