Stalin rakes up Kodanad in Chennai campaign despite High Court gag
Stalin, who has planned to wrap up his campaign at Tiruvarur on Wednesday, spoke at length on the Kodanad case.
Chennai
The gag order of the Madras High Court did not deter DMK president MK Stalin from raking up the Kodanad murder mysteries as he wound up his campaign in the city on the penultimate day of electioneering.
Campaigning for his Central Chennai candidate Dayanaidhi Maran at Purasawakkam in the city, the DMK president said, “I have the right to ask the questions. What happened in Kodanad?” Refusing to be silenced by the court order, Stalin said, “Don’t the people know what Kodanad means? You know who it is and what had happened there? If you obtain a gag order, will that silence me? I have the right to ask questions.” “There are no achievements (for them to brag about). Only agony (remains) for the people under Edappadi K Palaniswami’s regime,” Stalin said.
Recalling the standoff, he had with the ruling party on the issue of laying to rest former DMK chief Karunanidhi to rest on Marina, Stalin added, “We had only asked six feet land. We did not ask the land to construct a lavish bungalow, but to lay him to rest.”
Recalling the famous statement of the former five-time CM Karunanidhi that he would return the borrowed heart of Anna on his death. Stalin connected with the gathered crowd by recalling the various achievement of Karunanidhi, including the construction of Valluvar Kottam and said the leader who identified Presidents and PMs was denied land to fulfil his promise to Anna.
Reiterating that Palaniswami’s regime would be unseated as soon as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is sent home, a confident Stalin said the voters could hit two birds in one stone by voting for his party on April 18. Describing Modi as a NRI PM who was running a Tughlaq government, Stalin also credited Dayanidhi for bringing Nokia to India and making calls cheaper in the country.
