Poll attacks: Muslim league petitions ECI

In a statement, Mustafa said, “The vehicles of AMMK and SDPI candidates and their supporters were attacked by the ruling party cadre in Hosur, Arni and Central Chennai constituencies. The ECI should take action against the AIADMK.”

Mustafa said AIADMK men carrying weapons intercepted the car of AMMK candidate Pugazhendhi in Hosur. He managed to escape from the spot. Similarly, the AMMK candidate for Arni constituency, Senthamizhan, was attacked. Senthamizhan’s supporters who were in cars behind his campaign vehicle sustained injuries in the incident.

In Central Chennai constituency, AIADMK functionaries attacked SDPI candidate Tehlan Baqavi and his supporters. Mustafa claimed, adding that all these attacks happened with the support of Tamil Nadu police.

He also demanded the ECI to take steps to ensure that Indians working in foreign countries are able to vote. “The ECI’s motto is to achieve 100 per cent voting. It is possible only when Indians working in foreign countries are given the chance to vote,” said Mustafa.
