Ayyakannu refutes online report on DMK push behind ‘111 plan’
Strongly refuting the statement that has been going viral on social media that the DMK and Congress instigated his protests in Delhi, farmer leader P Ayyakannu said here on Monday that someone has been mischievously circulating the statement. He added that he has not spoken to any media and planning to file a case against those who are defaming his reputation.

A vernacular edition of a website has circulated a clipping on social media that Ayyakannu has spoken to that particular website that the DMK and Congress has instigated him to protest against the Centre and the Prime Minister Modi in Delhi for various demands. It was said that the protests had drawn the attention of international media and reportedly earned ‘anti-farmer’ name to the Prime Minister.
However, recently Ayyakannu had announced that he would field 111 farmers to contest against Modi where ever he is contesting from and later withdrew the plan after he was invited by BJP president Amit Shah. Shah was learnt to have assured to fulfill the river linking issue, which was one of the major demands of Ayyakannu.
Later, he spoke in support of the BJP that made the other farmer leaders from Tamil Nadu to demand an explanation from Ayyakkanu. The farmers wanted Ayyakkanu to state the real reason behind his meeting with Shah and the U-turn on his plan.
In this backdrop, statements of Ayyakannu pointing fingers at the DMK and Congress for instigating him to protest in Delhi against the Centre has been circulated widely across the state. “This is an utter lie. I never made any such statement neither met any such journalist,” Ayyakannu denied to DT Next when contacted.
“It is quite shocking that such statements have been circulated just to defame my reputation. I will file a complaint on Tuesday with the Tiruchy City Commissioner of Police demanding action against those who are behind it,” he added.
