Police said that the victim, a Class four student from a village in Pollachi had shared her trauma with her teacher, who informed the Childline officials after which a complaint was lodged. “As the girl appeared tired and traumatised in the class, the teacher inquired and found that she was sexually abuse by her stepfather in the house,” the police said.
While the girl was two years old, her mother separated from the girl’s father and remarried two years ago. Four months ago, the girl’s mother passed away leaving her under the care of her grandmother.
Since then, the accused had sexually abused the girl and threatened her against revealing it to anyone. The accused is also addicted to alcohol, said police. On receiving information from the teacher, the childline staff visited the school and enquired the girl. Then, Pollachi all-women police registered a case against Paraman under the Pocso Act and launched a hunt for him. Further investigations are on.
This incident has come as a shock even as people are yet to recover from the trauma of Pollachi sexual assault and rape-murder of a seven-year-old girl.
