“Some are asking me why they should vote for my party? I tell them one thing. Is there any party that has the courage to match us on this? We are honest. Personally, I am honest as well. I pay my taxes regularly,” Kamal declared at a party’s rally in Poonamallee near here while campaigning in support of his party’s candidates for the Tiruvallur Parliamentary seat and the Poonamallee Assembly seat.

Kamal, who launched his party in February last year after taking on the ruling AIADMK government on various issues, including corruption has promised to provide a corruption-free regime if voted to power. The actor turned politician has decided to stay away from the contest citing the need to campaign for his party’s candidates.

“I have paid my taxes. So, you cannot threaten me with I-T raids. I am leading an honest life,” he said, stating that there were reports that Ministers and MPs have made investments to the tune of Rs 3,000 crore and Rs 20,000 crore abroad. He said that the politicians stashing the ill-gotten assets in the foreign countries should be ended.

Blaming the public for the present state of affairs in the state, he said that the rich and the poor could usher in a revolution in the state. “We are in this situation because those people who are living in the high-rise buildings kept away from the so-called dirty politics. I urge you to use your vote as a tool to save you,” he said, urging the public to vote for his party’s candidate.

“We have chosen our candidates based on their education and their willingness to work for the public,” he said, seeking support for the party’s Tiruvallur LS candidate Dr Logarangan and Poonamallee Assembly candidate Jagadheesh Kumar.
