18 candidates in fray for Pondy LS seat
With none of the candidates withdrawing their nominations even as the deadline drew to a close today, the upcoming Lok Sabha election will now see 18 candidates battling it out for the lone seat here.

Although 37 nominations were filed, 19 were rejected upon scrutiny, leaving behind just 18 candidates in the fray.
The LS poll will now see a tough fight between V Vaithilingam of the Congress-led alliance with the DMK, Left parties among others, and the N R Congress candidate, Dr Narayanasamy, supported by the AIADMK and the BJP. Meanwhile, two candidates withdrew their nominations for the Thattanchavady Assembly bypoll, leaving behind eight candidates in the fray.
