Cong won’t make fake promises: Pondy CM

Talking to newspersons here, Narayanasamy said the Congress will give promises which could be fulfilled.

Listing out the promises given by successive congress prime ministers from Nehru to Manmohan Singh right from five year plan to IT development, Narayanasamy said that the promise given by Rahul Gandhi of providing Rs 72,000 a year to the poor of the country.

This is a unique scheme nowhere in the world and this would be implemented. He said Rahul Gandhi had discussions with economic experts like Manmohan Singh and P Chidambaram and got satisfied that it could be implemented before announcing the scheme.

20 percent of the population will be benefited by this scheme, he added. The chief minister said Narendra Modi failed to fulfill the promises and not introduced any scheme during his regime. The title of the existing schemes of the congress government were changed and announced as if it was a new scheme, he charged. He said Modi totally ignored the farmers leading to the suicide of farmers in Maharastra, Rajasthan and Madya Pradesh.
