Karti Chidambaram chosen to be the candidate for Sivaganga

Congress released the ninth list of candidates for Lok Sabha election, which informed that Karthy Chidambaram is to contest from Sivaganga constituency, ending all speculation over it.

The congress high command chose to field him against the high profile BJP candidate H Raja

Karti Chidambaram is facing trial in INX media money laundering case, and he has interim protection from arrest till March 25.

Earlier, state Congress president KS Alagiri told the reporters that prolonging of announcement is due to Rahul's intension of not opting heirs of senior party men.   

The DMK and the Congress finalised the seat-sharing deal for the ensuing Parliamentary elections with DMK allocating 10 seats, including Puducherry, to the national party.
