BJP, Cong candidates spar in Kanniyakumari

Addressing newspersons at Thoothukudi airport, the incumbent Nanguneri MLA asked Radhakrishnan to explain the developmental projects carried out in Kanniyakumari during his tenure, adding that the BJP candidate would be defeated in the ensuing election.

The Congress leader claimed that Radhakrishnan did nothing to provide scholarship to students belonging to poor caste Hindu families.

However, Radhakrishnan hit back at Vasantha Kumar and said that the people of his Assembly constituency were betrayed.

“When he failed to develop his own constituency, why should he contest from Kanniyakumari?”

“Since the poll prospects were not in favour of the Congress in north India, leaders of the party are focusing on south India and contesting from constituencies of their choice,” he said.
