According to sources, Nithya (30) was working in a government high school in Mamandoor near Arani. She was married to Umesh Kumar of Paiyur village, who is also a teacher, working in government high school in Kalpoondi. The couple have two children.
While Nithya was working in the government high school at Paiyur, she developed a relationship with a male student, who also took English tuition from her. Later, she was transferred to the government high school at Chengam, where she developed a relationship with another student.
She took the students to various places, stayed overnight in hotels and also took photos and videos with them. Recently, when Nithya came to her husband’s house, she went out leaving her mobile phone at home. When Umesh Kumar checked his wife’s phone, he was shocked to see the picture and videos of her with the students. This resulted in an argument and the couple started living separately.
Unable to bear his wife’s act, Umesh Kumar filed a petition with the Collector KS Kandasamy to take action against her. After the Collector ordered the district social welfare officer to look into the matter, it was forwarded to the Arani All-Women Police Station. After investigating the matter, the police arrested Nithya under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. Tiruvannamalai CEO V Jayakumar suspended Nithya and ordered a departmental enquiry.
