3 kids collapse in pool during Holi celebrations
A Holi revelry held at a private venue in Vepery on Thursday nearly had serious consequences when three children were found floating in an artificial pool created for the party.

The event ‘Gulal-2019’ was a paid party in which hundreds of adults and children participated. At 10.45 am, a team of photojournalists had reached the venue to cover the party, when suddenly a child started screaming as his companions were spotted floating in the pool which was about 25 feet long and around two feet deep.
As it was initially suspected that the children had suffered an electric shock, power connection was turned off and the children were rescued from the pool. While two of the three regained consciousness as soon as they were brought out, one boy remained unconscious. A photojournalist who was there to cover the event administered Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and revived the child. “It was shocking to see three children floating motionless in the pool. The organisers turned off the power supply and rescued them. Two of the kids recovered within a few minutes, but we had to perform first aid on the third one,” said the photojournalist Ravi. A few eye-witnesses also noted that within minutes of the mishap, the party started again despite there being chances of an electric malfunction.
The 7-year-old child was later rushed to a private hospital in Purusawalkam where he was provided further treatment. Speaking to DTNext, a close family member of the victim, said, “Some people told us it could be epilepsy, but he has no medical history of epilepsy.” Vepery police have registered a case.
