With the Pollachi case still making headlines, the two sisters, identified as S Tamil Ealam, a third year student and S Oviya, a Class 9 student from Nallampalayam near Coimbatore approached K Rajamani and submitted a petition in which they sought safety for the girls in the district as the recent incident has shocked the wits out of all the women in the district, especially, young students.
The duo appealed to the District Collector for the firearm so they could feel safer as the incident has led to uneasiness also among parents. The girls claimed that justice may not prevail as there is political backing as regards the Pollachi case. “hence, for self-defence, we need a gun and have approached the Collector,” said Ealam. She added that earlier, there were 1,500 videos reportedly under police possession, but now there are only four videos left and so they lost faith.
