TVK leader Velmurugan booked
The city police booked Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi (TVK) founder-leader T Velmurugan under three sections of the IPC in connection with a speech he made at Chepauk nearly a year ago.

The police at Triplicane station said that the draft of his speech was shared with government legal consultants for their opinion.
They concluded that Velmurugan’s speech was indeed inflammatory in nature and intended to cause create tension between different communities.
The speech was made during an agitation called by TVK and 25 other outfits to demand the Central government to form Cauvery Management Board following the Supreme Court ruling.
Based on a complaint by Triplicane Law and Order inspector Murali, a case was registered against Velmurugan under Sections 153, 153A (i) (a) (b) and 505 (i) (b) (c) of the Indian Penal Code.
Though police had given permission to the protesters to hold the agitation near the State Guest House in Chepauk from 2 pm to 6 pm, it went on till 8.45 pm, police said.
