Protests intensify across Tamil Nadu
As protests gained momentum with students across TN demanding stringent punishment against the accused in the sex scandal, most of the colleges remained shut in Pollachi on Thursday.

Colleges were shut to prevent students from being mobilised for protests. Stirs took place on Thursday with students demanding probe to unravel political links of the accused: Sabarirajan, K Thirunavukkarasu, N Sathish, and T Vasanthakumar.
In Tirupur, thousands of students from a private girls’ college staged a road roko on Pollachi-Dindigul NH near Udumalpet bus terminus. In Coimbatore, students of Government Law College and Naam Tamizhar Party staged separate protests. Meanwhile in Pollachi, over 350 cops were deployed at Mahalingapuram arch, Sub-Collector’s office, Gandhi Statue and ‘Thiruvalluvar Thidal’.
In Vellore, around 1,000 students of Voorhees College boycotted classes and staged a sit-in on the campus. Also, about 100 members of the Vellore Bar Association boycotted court and raised slogans at the integrated court complex. Sources said they would boycott court on Friday too.
Central TN too witnessed widespread as Students from Urumu Dhanalakshmi College took out a rally on Tiruchy-Thanjavur NH. In Pudukkottai, over 200 students from Raja College raised slogans at their campus, while in Karur, Government Arts College students staged a stir with placards and slogans. Protests were also organised by the members of Revolutionary Students Youth Front.
