Rs 2.50 lakh unaccounted cash seized from sub registrar’s vehicle
In continuing crackdown on corruption, vigilance and anti-corruption officials seized unaccounted cash to the tune of Rs 2.50 lakh from the car of a sub registrar near the Wallajahpet toll plaza on Monday evening.

In the wake of largescale complaints that Manikandan, sub- registrar of Pallikonda, 20 km from Vellore, was demanding huge sums as bribe to register land documents, a team of vigilance officials, led by DSP Saravanakumar, conducted a raid on Pallikonda sub registrar’s office on Monday evening.
As Manikandan was not in the office, inquiries by the team revealed that he had left for his native place Kancheepuram in his own vehicle. The vigilance police followed him and intercepted his car at the Wallajahpet toll plaza where they checked his vehicle and seized Rs 2.50 lakh unaccounted cash.
When confronted by officials, Manikandan culd not give proper explanation for carrying the cash and tried to move away from the spot. Following this the sub-registrar for picked up for questioning by the team. As per last reports, inquiry was on with Manikandan regarding the source of the money.
