    A couple was allegedly murdered by an armed gang in Dindigul on Monday.

    The incident occurred at Nallampatti around 9 am. The victims, who were identified as P Pandi alias Tirupur Pandi (45) and his wife Panju (40) were in their relative's house, when the gang barged in and hacked them to death.


    Preliminary inquiries revealed that it was an incident of revenge killing. Their sons, Ashok Kumar and Chandrasekar, part of 11-member gang allegedly murdered M Murugesan on June 18, 2018 over a dispute during a temple festival.


    Hence, police suspect the couple might have been killed in an revenge act. The whereabouts of the couple's sons was not known. "A person identfified as Siva along with five accomplices was suspected to have committed the murders," sources said. The gang have gone underground.


    The Dindigul Taluk police have filed a case under Section 302 of IPC and hunt is on to nab the accused.
