Bold, capital letters reading Josh, Surgical Strike 2 and NaMo again sprawl over vibrant sarees printed with photographs of Narendra Modi’s determined face while he delivers a speech on a dias. Accompanied by BJP’s lotus symbols, military prints, picture-prints of soldiers landing on parachutes, lions and tigers, these sarees make it evident that several women admirers of Modi aren’t shying away from wearingtheir political preferences on their sleeves.

“We have sold about 2,500 Modi sarees so far to women across India since January, and the demand is only increasing as the election draws closer,” said a salesperson from Paaneri, a textile shop in Mumbai. “Some people buy them to frame and hang in their homes, if not wear them,” he added.

Besides getting them customised at textile shops that offer the facility, several women are ordering them online on Amazon, where it is priced from Rs 799 to Rs 3,549, and sold by Glory Sarees, Admore, Akhilam and VD Print, ranking 1,046 in the bestseller list of women sarees in the world.

Previously, this Modi fashion advocacy became famous by black tee-shirts printed with Modi’s face or the words NaMo in TN’s textile hub of Tirupur.
