Pulse polio campaign: 6.7 lakh children vaccinated on Sunday
The Greater Chennai Corporation administered polio vaccine to nearly 6.7 lakh children in the city during the pulse polio campaign held on Sunday.

“Our aim was to administer the vaccine to 7.13 lakh children during the camp, of which we managed to vaccinate 6,73,654 kids,” a civic official said.
According to a statement released by the Chennai Corporation, 1,644 vaccination centres were set up during the polio campaign.
The statement added that 1,440 permanent vaccination camps were organised at Chennai Corporation health centres, government and private hospitals, railway stations and bus stands. Apart from the permanent camps, the civic body also arranged for 204 mobile camps at public places such as Marina Beach and CMBT, among others.
Over 6,700 personnel from government departments and NGO participated in the camp which was held between 7 am and 5 pm.
The officials said that the children who were left out on Sunday would be covered during the next round of pulse polio campaign. During the camp conducted on March 2018, the civic body had vaccinated 7,50,902 children.
Meanwhile, 66.34 lakh children across the state were given polio vaccine against the target of 72 lakh. The vaccination camps would continue for another two days so that the children who were left out, get another change at getting vaccinated, a release from the directorate of public health said.
