    Priest falls to death from pole at Coimbatore temple, video goes viral

    A video of a priest falling off to death from a 20-foot pole during a special puja for Mahashivratri in Coimbatore has gone viral in social media. As part of a temple festival at Sundakkamuthur near Perur, the priest Ayyasamy (33) climbed up the pole and balanced himself to lay down and predict the fortune of devotees visiting the temple.

    A video of a priest falling off to death from a 20-foot pole during a special puja for Mahashivratri in Coimbatore has gone viral in social media. As part of a temple festival at Sundakkamuthur near Perur, the priest Ayyasamy (33) climbed up the pole and balanced himself to lay down and predict the fortune of devotees visiting the temple. Suddenly, Ayyasamy lost grip and fell down from a height of 20 feet. 

    The people who had gathered at the temple at night rushed him to a private hospital, however, he died without responding to treatment. He is survived by his wife and three children. The incident came to light only on Friday after the video went viral in social media. Meanwhile, the Perur police claimed that they were not aware of the incident. “They cremated his body without informing us. A case is yet to be registered,” said sources.
