45-yr-old head constable offers financial support to govt school
A 45-year-old head constable attached to Kotturpuram police station has been financially supporting the students of his alma mater, a government middle school in Ayapakkam.

In his latest act of benevolence, Venkateshwara Rao donated his two-month salary, that is Rs 1 lakh to buy tables, chairs and other basic amenities for the school, he also donated to buy school bags, uniform and shoes for children. Venkateshawara Rao has been helping underprivileged students since the last 10 years.
His focus turned towards his alma mater after he heard that a lot of students are involved into drug abuse.
Last year, he donated Rs 10,000 to thetoppers of Class 10 and 12 board examination from his school.
“I draw Rs 50,000 per month, which would suffice to meet my monthly expenses and my children’s education. So, I decided to do something for my alma mater where I passed out in 1989.
I was in Class VIII then. I’m doing this out of my own interest and have not received a penny from others,” said Venkateshwara Rao, who works with the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) for 13 years.
Venkateshwara Rao’s two children studying in a private schooland is planning to shift them to a government school soon.
