Ponnar confident of DMDK aligning with AIADMK-BJP

The leaders of AIADMK had been holding talks with the DMDK leader Vijayakant, said Radhakrishnan who along with BJP members visited the Subramaniya Swamy Temple in Tiruchendur andoffered prayers.

With the Lok Sabha polls expected in a few months in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, almost all major parties entered into alliances. But, the DMDK is still wavering to forge an alliance either with the BJP-led combine or with the Congress-led combine. Since the DMDK is yet to arrive at a decision in forming alliance, political leaders from the AIADMK and DMK had been trying their best to rope in the DMDK.

Talking to reporters in Tiruchendur, Radhakrishnan said over the last five years, scores of development projects to the tune of several crores were implemented by the Central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government extended good governance during its tenure for the welfare of people and lived up to their expectations. Hence, the NDA would continue to succeed in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls with absolute majority. Hitting out at Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy, Radhakrishnan said the CM has nothing to criticise the BJP, since he did nothing to his people and seldom bothered about the development of Puducherry. 

Referring to the 1,000 MW thermal power plant of NTPL in Thoothukudi, which Union Minister of Railways and Coal Piyush Goyal dedicated to the nation, he said it was a bonanza for the people of Tamil Nadu. Responding to a query, he said alliance is yet to take a final shape and it was probably expected to be finalised on March 6 when Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Chennai.
