Green gram to be procured till April end
Vellore district officials have set a target to procure 3500 metric tonnes of green gram during 2018-19 Rabi season, according to Collector, SA Raman. The target is same as that fixed for procurement during the kharif season.

Appealing farmers to make best use of this opportunity, the Collector said that the produce should be of fair average quality (FAQ) and the procurement process would be carried out at Vellore and Vaniyambadi regulated markets till the end of April.
Informing that the district had till date procured 14.52 metric tonnes, benefitting 56 farmers, he said the ryots would be paid a minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 56.75 per kg which was higher than the prevailing market rate.
Those who want to participate in the procurement process should submit copies of their chitta and adangal records, the first page of passbook of their savings bank account, Aadhar card along with a certificate from local agricultural officers attested to their bona fides.
