Class 12 board exams seem to have kick started on an easy note on Friday in Tamil Nadu with most of the students claiming that the language paper was fairly easy and comfortable to attend.
Chennai
Unlike the previous year, for the first time, Class 12 students will have to face only one language exam, which reduced the burden of attending an additional, language II paper. Similarly, the students will have to appear for just one English paper this time. Accordingly, each subject will carry only 100 marks, and the total marks for all six subject will be only 600. Last year each subject carried 200 marks.
As the language paper was remarkably easy to write, many students were happy and said they are looking forward to face other exams with confidence. “Tamil paper was very easy and I have attended all the questions in the stipulated time”, K Aditiya, a student, at a private school in Pammal said.
He said the printing was legible, all the questions that were asked were straight forward. The language paper was easy for most of the students including those who opted for other languages such as Hindi, Sanskrit, French, German and Arabic.
S Sheraya, a student from a school at Nungambakkam, who took German language paper, said the question paper was easy and all the questions came well within the portions. An official communique from the Directorate of Examination said that except for one private student in Chennai, no one had indulged in malpractices in the exam that was conducted in more than 2,900 examination centres established across the State.
Accordingly, 44,400 invigilators and about 4,000 flying squads were deployed to monitor the examination proceedings. In addition, special observers were also appointed to monitor exam process at all district headquarters.
More than eight lakh Class 12 students in more than 7,000 schools, who faced language exam, will have three days of gap before facing English subject on Tuesday. Science and Commerce students will have to face their main subjects from next Thursday. The last exam will be held on March 19.
