DMK cadre block road alleging malpractice in distribution of Rs 2000
DMK cadre and members of the public blocked Ranipet – Puliankannu road demanding that only Below Poverty Line beneficiaries should be provided Rs 2,000 under the State government’s special assistance scheme on Wednesday.

The people of the Puliankannu hamlet of Navlok village panchayat near Ranipet alleged that the officials chose only wealthy and non- BPL people for the scheme. When the left out members visited the officials, they refused to discuss about the issue. Following this, DMK cadres along with the affected beneficiaries resorted to a road roko on Wednesday morning. Immediately police rushed to the spot and defused the situation by holding parleys with the agitators. Based on the assurance of the police, the agitators dispersed and traffic was allowed to resume.
Women close down TASMACoutlet in Tiruvannamalai
Tiruvannamalai: Irate women of four villages blocked the road near the Tiruvannamalai Government Medical College Hospital demanding the removal of a TASMAC outlet in their area on Wednesday.
Despite objections from the locals, the officialdom opened a TASMAC outlet in Ramsamynagar. On Feburary 7, the agitated residents of 4 villages besieged the shop and the police promised to notify the issue to concerned officials. However, as nothing transpired, the locals mainly women arrived at the TASMAC shop on Wednesday morning. When police rushed and tried to pacify them, the angry women piled bricks against the closed shutter. The women then squatted on the adjacent Tiruvannamalai by-pass road blocking traffic. Senior police officials arrived and assured that action would be taken this time. Based on the assurance, the agitator left the spot.
Woman holds up traffic
A woman blocked the traffic for two consecutive days at Sathuvachari on Wednesday demanding the police to the needful to reunify her with her husband.
On Tuesday and Wednesday,Sowmya, a resident of the CMC colony and wife of Lokesh held up traffic on the Chennai- Bangalore National Highway for more than 40 minutesdemanding that police should reunite her with Lokesh. Sathuvachari police took her to the police station for further inquiry.
