Based on complaints to the Transport department, a crackdown was initiated against the bike taxisbeing operated without valid permits.
The Motor Vehicle Rules also doesn’t permit use of a bike for commercial purposes. “They were also operated without fitness certificates and do not carry an insurance for the clients. They also do not insist on wearing helmets for clients,” said an official of the transport department.
