Replying to a question on her excess interference in administration, Bedi replied, “I am not a Governor, but Lieutenant Governor. I am also termed an administrator in the law and the powers such as financial powers, service powers and security powers are defined clearly in detail.”
Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy is on a dharna outside the Raj Nivas, the office of Lieutenant Governor in Puducherry, demanding the Union government to withdraw Kiran Bedi due to her excess interference in day-to-day administration and not signing 39 files attached to various departments.
Narayanasamy’s protest was supported by politicians from Tamil Nadu too as all the partners in alliance such as DMK, VCK and CPI leaders went to Puducherry and expressed their support directly to Narayanasamy.
When Bedi was questioned about Narayanasamy’s dharna, when she landed at Chennai airport, she accused Narayanasamy of not implementing the helmet rules in the state and so she had to step in for implementation of the rules.
She also said that she is ready to hold public debate with him. “I am speaking based on a set of rules and he might be referring to another set of rules. It is better that if both debate the problems in public.”
She further said that all schemes could not besanctioned due to shortageof funds.
