Carpenter murdered by wife over affair in Coimbatore

According to police, Baburaj came home drunk around midnight on Saturday, when his wife Bhagyam (34) chided him over his relationship. Their three girl children were asleep at that time.  

An enraged Baburaj attempted to stab her with a broken beer bottle. However, she managed to overpower him and hit his head with a wooden log. She then took a knife and stabbed his neck.  

Police said Baburaj succumbed to injuries on the spot. Disturbed by the unfortunate developments, Bhagyam then consumed poisonous substances. She also slit her wrist with a broken piece of beer bottle. 

Around 4 am on Sunday, the elder daughter, who came out of the room in search of her mother, was shocked to find Bhagyam lying unconscious and her father dead in a pool of blood. On hearing her loud cries, the neighbours rushed into the house. They took the woman to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) for treatment. 

The Kuniamuthur police have registered a case against Bhagyam.The couple had frequent quarrels over Baburaj’s affair with a woman from PK Pudur area. Further inquiries are on.
