The students assembled at the administration block of the CUTN, demanded revoking of the suspension of two Assistant Professors – Aazhiyarasi and Saranya ‑from the Department of English who were also working as resident wardens of the women’s hostel. The CUTN administration had reportedly told the students that the professors were terminated for ‘misconduct.’ It is alleged that these two assistant professors working on contract basis reportedly were liberal with the students’ hostel timings. The students said that the termination was made on a flimsy reason and it needed to be revoked.
Meanwhile, the University said it would hold talks on Monday, but the students refused and continued to strike.
University official, said the administration had asked the teachers to take up responsibility of residential wardens, but they refused.
