Firemen rescue two farmers stuck in well after saving dog
A chain of events demonstrating care for animals and height of friendship of two farmers took place at Vazhiyoor near Kannamangalam in the district on Tuesday.
Tiruvannamalai
Police said that the pet dog of Sekar (45), a farmer of Vazhiyoor near Kannamangalam, fell into an abandoned farm well. Wasting no time, Sekar tied a rope to a tree and alighted into the well using the other end of the rope. Once into the depth, he removed the rope and tied it aroundÂ
the dog.Â
Baskaran (40), who was helping Sekar in the rescue act, pulled out the dog safely. Then he suspended the rope for Sekar to climb out of the well. But, Sekar seemed to be unlucky as the rope got snapped when he was climbing up. On seeing Sekar floundering, Baskaran jumped into the well to save his friend, but fate was so cruel as both got stuck in the well.Â
Hearing their cries, neighbours alerted the fire service personnel at Arni and the police at Kannamanagalam, who then rushed to the spot and rescued the duo after an hour-long battle. Baskaran, who lost consciousness, was brought out using a stretcher. Both were sent to the GH.
