    ‘Tamil Robotics and Language Processing’ has been chosen as the special focus theme for the three-day conference to be held at the Anna University campus here. 

    The conference will cover all key technology and application related areas of Tamil computing and IT. The conference will be of interest to software developers, academicians, as well as users of Tamil computing technology. 

    The conference will have several technical sessions, wherein researchers and technology developers are set to present new developments as well review the progress in various areas. There will also be a session addressed at the Tamil diaspora community, consisting of several tutorial sessions for those interested. 

    Research papers on areas such as natural language processing in Tamil (morphology, syntax, semantics, POS taggers, parsing, phonology, corpus linguistics), machine translation of texts between Tamil and English and other Indian languages, text-to-speech, voice recognition, search engines, will be presented. 

    In addition, there will be sessions on open source Tamil software and Tamil localisation, smart word-processing that includes spell-checker, grammar-checker, computer-aided teaching and learning of Tamil at all levels.
