Aavin to foray into new markets abroad

Addressing newspersons after inaugurating the trial operation of the Tamirabarani combined drinking water project, established in Sattur at a cost of Rs 234 crore, the Minister said: “Aavin products have got an overwhelming response globally since the quality is beingmaintained.” On the drinking water project, Rajenthra Bhalaji said a total of 210 lakh litres of water would be supplied to 5.43 lakh people residing in 755 village panchayats per day. Virudhunagar, Sattur, Sivakasi and Vembakottai unions would stand to benefit.

Further, the Minister said the ruling AIADMK would form a mega alliance to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. “Our alliance would emerge as a determining factor in deciding the Prime Ministerial candidate. With elections just a few months away, several parties have held talks with us to form an alliance,” he said.

Rajenthra Bhalaji also criticised Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) founder Kamal Haasan. “Since no one is interested in aligning with the MNM, Kamal termed other parties as being tainted,” he said, wondering whether the actor-politician’s hands were clean.

Referring to the just-announced State budget, he said: “All features to benefit the poor people were included in the budget. It was not aimed at the upcoming polls, but catered to the welfare of people.”
