Thirunavukkarasar named election commitee head, Khushbu to be convenor
The Congress high command has constituted three separate committees, including an election committee, headed by newly appointed TNCC president KS Alagiri to manage the affairs of the party during the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.

The composition of the committees suggested a balancing act by the Congress high command, which had issued marching orders to immediate past TNCC chief Su Thirunavukkarasar only a few days ago, for the AICC had appointed him and his predecessor EVKS Elangovan chairmen of two separate committees.
Thirunavukkarasar would head 35-member campaign committee for which actor-politician Khushbu Sundar would be convenor, while Elangovan has been assigned the task of chairing the 17-member coordination committee. All former TNCC presidents, AICC secretaries from the state and all working presidents and big wigs of the state Congress have been accommodated in both the Pradesh election and coordination committees. The tally of working presidents in the state Congress went up to five with Congress president Rahul Gandhi approving the appointment of Mohan Kumaramangalam as one of the working presidents with immediate effect.
Seat sharing talks with DMK
Meanwhile, Alagiri, who came back from Delhi on Tuesday, said the seat sharing talks with the DMK would be held after the election dates are announced. Claiming that he had discussed with party chief Rahul Gandhi the arrival of new parties to the DMK-led alliance for the LS elections, Alagiri accused the ruling BJP of creating a civil war like situation in West Bengal by infringing on the rights of the state police. Earlier, in a statement inviting cadre to participate when he assumes the office of TNCC chief on February 8, Alagiri took a veiled dig at the AIADMK and the BJP saying, “No one was willing to ally with the BJP in Tamil Nadu.” In his first ever message to cadre after his appointment Alagiri called upon party workers to partner with the DMK to destabilise the corrupt AIADMK and communal BJP regimes.
Meanwhile, outgoing TNCC chief Thirunavukkarasar, who was offered a grand reception at the city airport by his supporters on his return from New Delhi said, “There was no need to analyse the reason for the change (at the helm of TNCC). It has happened. I have been extending my support to everyone who headed the party since joining Congress ten years ago. I will continue to do it.”
