Students in tears over transfer of their beloved teacher in Tirupur
Emotions ran high as students of a corporation middle school at Thennampalayam in Tirupur on Monday demonstrated their love for their Mathematics teacher, who was transferred to another school for participating in the JACTTO-GEO protest.

Students, who were in tears, held the hands of the teacher, identified as G Suresh, and refused to let him leave the school. On knowing about this, their parents submitted a petition to the district administration officials against transferring Suresh to another school.
“Suresh is our beloved teacher. He made us understand difficult concepts in an easy and simple manner. Mathematics has become our favourite subject only because of him. He should be allowed to work in the same school,” said Jeeva, a Class 8 student.
His classmate Jagadeesh said: “Our school became a plastic-free campus four years ago, much before the plastic ban was enforced by the government. We do not allow our parents to use plastic even at home. The credit for the same should go to Suresh sir.”
The students claimed that he would never hesitate to buy food for students, who fail to bring their lunch or provide first aid to injured and unwell students. The teacher, who was moved by the affection of his students, also broke down. He tried in vain to convince them to return to their class.
There are 11 teachers for around 320 students studying in the school, which was started in 2001. Hailing from Thekkalur near Avinashi, Suresh joined the school in 2009 and had been handling Mathematics for Classes 6, 7 and 8. He is one among the 17 teachers in Tirupur to be transferred for participating in the JACTTO-GEO protest.
Tirupur South Block Education Officer G Ramachandran said the objection put forth by the students and their parents will be conveyed to the Chief Education Officer (CEO) for a further decision in this regard.
