The School Education Department’s move came against the backdrop of wrong information given by several government school managements across the state.

The District Education Officers (DEO) have been directed to upload all the details through the Educational Management Information System, which was developed by the government.

The Director of School Education VC Rameswaramurugan said that the CEOs were requested to instruct all the DEOs to follow the instructions given in the circular to feed the details of the staff who participated in the strike between January 22 and 30.

Issuing new guidelines, the School Education Director said that all the DEOs should use the Unified District Information System for Education number of the school for which he/she wants to enter the data. After that, DEOs will select the dates in which the teacher participated in the strike.

Other details like teachers who participated in the strike from January 22 to 25 but did not participate after that should also be entered, as per the directions.

A senior official from the Education Department said, “The data of the absentees collected by the school management during the protest was contradictory and mismatching with the attendance registers of the teacher. Some teachers even signed the attendance register and participated in the strike.”

He also alleged that some protesting teachers threatened the school management not to give correct attendance information to the authorities during the strike.

“Therefore, it has been decided to collect accurate data and get clarity of the teachers who participated in the protest demonstration so appropriate action can be taken,” he added.
