Son of PACCS chief shuts PDS shop, pensioners irked
A fair price shop that was closed due to a fight between the son of the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Credit society (PACCS) chairperson and the salesman, was reopened by a team of Arni taluk police and revenue officials headed by the Arni tahsildar at Velleri village on Monday.
Tiruvannamalai
It all started when more than 30 pensioners attached to the fair price shop at Velleri village did not receive their Pongal gift hamper distributed for free by the government. Irked by this the old petitioners complained about the issue to the PACCS chairperson Krishnamurthy and blamed the salesman Kumaresan for not providing the Pongal gift hampers.
On hearing of the issue, Krishnamurthy’s son Sithan, went to the shop and picked up a quarrel with salesman Kumaresan.
Sithan stated that Kumaresan was the reason for his father getting a bad name. After a heated argument, infuriated Sithan pushed Kumaresan out of the shop and locked the facility.
When the affected pensionersheard about the tussle, they questioned Sithan for locking the shop and were agitated by this.
Based on information, Arni taluk police and revenue officials headed by the Arni tahsildar reached the shop and interacted with the locals.
They immediately re-opened the shop and ordered the PACCS board of directors to initiate action against the salesman of the fair price shop.
