Accordingly, the institute would be providing ideas related to business opportunities, business plan preparation, mentoring, business network and technology information services, for students from the end of this academic year. A senior official from the EDII said that for any potential entrepreneur, having an idea, is the first step to start a business. He said that selecting a line for the business is an arduous task as entrepreneurs would normally oscillate among the available opportunities. “For the advantage of aspiring graduates, who evince interest in business, the institute will give a comprehensive idea of the line of business that suits the candidates,” he said.

Stating that about 1 lakh students would be selected for the project ideation and guidance programme, the official said that after giving a comprehensive idea, the experts would guide the graduates in finalizing a business model and would give them ideas for the commercialisation of the business model to make it successful.

According to the official, the training programme would look into different parameters of a business model that include customer segments, value propositions, customer relations, key partners, economic feasibility and financial feasibility.

EDII programme would be implemented and mentored with the help of business experts in Chennai, Tiruvallur and Kanchipuram. In other districts, reputed MSME Industry Associations or MSME Product Associations that have reasonable infrastructure, would keep a track on the regular programs conducted and proper staffing to support EDII.

The official said that mobile mentoring clinics would be set up in rural areas and under this initiative a group of experts would travel together and organise a day’s camp in a remote area, where there is potential for business.
