CM presents medals, lauds policemen for Law and Order
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Thursday said that more than 20,000 policemen in the state have benefitted out of the Police wellbeing programme.

Addressing the function held to present the medals to policemen, Palaniswami said, “Along with 20,000 policemen, 22,000 family members of policemen too have undertaken the training. The training is provided by NIMHANS, Bengaluru, and seeing the training given to policemen one of the central Ministers was impressed and he wanted to implement the programme to the CPRF personnel too.”
The state government announced police medals for 3,000 policemen. The number of medals was increased from 1,500 to 3,000 in the Budget, 2018, and as assured, the increased number of medals was presented.
The function to give medals was held at Rajarathinam Stadium in Egmore. In the function, Palaniswami said, “The state government allotted Rs 10 crore for wellbeing project and Tamil Nadu is the onlystate conducting such a programme for policemen.”
However, Palaniswami asked the policemen to behave well with the people. “We are receiving salary from the tax paid by the people and people are our bosses. We should keep it in mind and work according to ensure proper implementation of schemes and to set right the situation,” he said.
He also said that police job is for the society and people who come to register a complaint should be treated with care and their grouses should be listened properly. “Only if proper action is taken on the complaint people will develop faith on the system,” he added.
He further said that the vacancy in police department is below five percentage and they too will be filled soon.
Palaniswami also appreciated the work of policemen by saying that the state had attracted investment of more than Rs 3 lakh crorein the recently conducted Global Investors Meet (GIM) primarily due to the factor that law and order situation is the best in the country.
