“Considering the promise made by the State government, we have decided to withdraw the strike. We are confident that Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami will hold talks with us and fulfil our demands,” said Peter Antonisamy, president, Tamil Nadu Secretariat Association (TANSA), while addressing the media. He demanded the government to withdraw the action taken against the government officials and to deposit their salaries on time.
Earlier in the day, Left parties, including CPI and CPI(M), in a joint statement, appealed to the protesting government officials and teachers to withdraw their protests. Stating that public exam was at the doors and that life of the students were at stake, the Left parties appealed to the protesting teachers to consider returning to their respective schools and to ensure that the exams are conducted properly.
