Driver hurt as bus collides with lorry

Due to the accident, traffic on Jawadhu hills ghat road near Jamaunamarudur was affected for more than 11 hours on Monday.

Police said a government bus bound for Kavanur in the Jawadhu hills from Alangyam, collided with a sugarcane-laden lorry bound for Vaniyambadi from Jamunamarudur at RNS Pudur village, on Sunday night. In the impact, bus driver Dinakaran was injured. However, 10 passengers travelling by the government bus escaped unhurt.

On information, Alangyam police reached the spot and rushed the injured driver to the Vaniyambadi Government Hospital.

According to police, since, the road was narrow, the traffic could not be cleared immediately in the night. The police brought an earthmover to remove the jammed bus and the lorry.
