The hashtag #gobackmodi trended worldwide as it was the highest tagged hashtag across Twitter. The Information Technology (IT) wing of both the BJP and opposition parties had a tough time, on Sunday, but #gobackmodi was the highest trending hashtag.
Similarly, BJP IT wing too started their work by trending #maduraithanksmodi and #tnwelcomesmodi.
Twitterati was active in the state with the hashtag #gobackmodi as they listed out the reasons for opposing Modi. One of the major reasons listed for opposing Modi is that he did not visit the state at the time when delta districts were ravaged by Cyclone Gaja.
People from southern districts also mentioned Thoothukudi police firing and held BJP government responsible for the firing as they supported Vedanta.
Lois Sofia, research scholar from Thoothukudi arrested in Thoothukudi airport for raising slogans against Modi, tweeted, “16 ppl were murdered, 100s mained in #ThoothukudiModi never mentioned it, let alone offer a word of fake sympathy & the odious Swamy said “PM will offer condolences after investigating if those who died were Naxalites or LTTE.”
DMK IT Wing Secretary and Madurai Central MLA PTR Palanivel Thiagarajan said that the hashtags “maduraithanksmodi and #tnwelcomesmodi started outside Tamil Nadu. “The Twitter maps shows that hashtags created by BJP actually started in Haryana and Bihar, but the hashtag #gobackmodi was tweeted across the globe, according to Twitter map,” he added.
The trend continued even after Modi left Madurai as #pomonemodi started trending when Modi landed in Kochi.
