NIT Tiruchy aims to be among top 500 varsities in the world: Director
The National Institute of Technology- Tiruchy (NIT-T) aims to be among the top 500 universities in the world in the next five years, said its director Mini Shaji Thomas here on Saturday.

Addressing the gathering during the Republic Day celebrations, Mini Shaji Thomas recalled a few of the institute’s achievements, such as bagging the ‘Best Innovation Club’ award from the President of India, two green awards, retaining the top position in NIRF-2018 rankings, establishment of Siemens Centre of Excellence in Manufacturing, signing several MOUs with industry stakeholders and forging collaborations to impact various sectors of technology.
Stating that the institute aspires to be among the top 500 universities of the world in the next five years, she said artificial intelligence, machine learning, and deep learning will aid the next technology revolution.
The director also congratulated the team that won the second prize in the inaugural edition of the Indo-Singapore hackathon held at Nanyang Technological University in November 2018.
Mini Shaji Thomas also said the institute hopes to launch a Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning before August 15 this year. She concluded her speech by motivating the students to help NIT-T become a globally competent institution, which is trusted for its technical excellence to sustain society and industry.
