Tragedy strikes Vaniyambadi as another bull dies after falling into well
The second death of a bull which participated in a bull run was reported from Nimmiampattu village in Alangayam panchayat union near Vaniyambadi on Tuesday evening.

More than 100 bulls participated in the bull run inaugurated by Labour Minister Nilofer Khafeel. A bull named ‘Vayuputhran’ owned by former MLA Kovi Sampath was running for the first time.
But, the bull fell into a ground level open well, as it was not able to stop after the run. However, fire service personnel aided by locals struggled for an hour to pull the bull out of the well.
Once rescued, it was taken to the former MLA’s native village for treatment. However, the animal failed to respond for the treatment and died.
Nilofer paid her last respects to the bull after which it was taken in a cart though the main streets of the village and then buried.
It may be recalled that a few days ago, a bull named ‘villain’ which collided head on with another in a bull run at Munjurpattu village near Vellore succumbed on the way to hospital.
4 bulls, 32 spectators injured in bull run near Odugathur
A total of 32 persons were injured at a bull run near Odugathur in Vellore district on Wednesday. The sanctioned bull run was conducted at Pakkampalayam village near Odugathur. A huge crowd of spectators climbed on to buildings and trees to witness the event. More than 100 bulls were brought to the venue from Katpadi, Vellore, Vaniyambadi and Gudiyattam. While of the bulls ran the entire barricaded stretch, 4 bulls fell down in the spectator created melee and were injured. However, they were treated on the spot. Spectators who tried to touch and scare the bulls and 32 spectators were injured. While 30 suffered with minor injuries were treated on the spot, two others who suffered serious injuries were rushed to the Vellore government medical college hospital.
