Nothing wrong in doing ritual, says Jayakumar
The Deputy Chief Minister may have denied performing a ‘yagam’ at his office in the Secretariat, but his Cabinet colleague D Jayakumar on Monday adopted a different tone and said there was nothing wrong in it.

Addressing newspersons here, the Fisheries Minister said: “If Stalin feels that one can become a CM just by doing a ‘yagam,’ then he should be the one performing such a ritual as he is desperate to assume the CM chair.”
Stating that there was nothing wrong in performing a pooja or lighting an incense stick, Jayakumar termed Stalin’s statement ‘childish’ and said: “I feel sorry for the current desperate state of Stalin to become CM.” He also ridiculed the DMK president stating that the opposition leader has been requesting an CBI enquiry for every issue.
“We will not be surprised if Stalin asks for a CBI probe to investigate the ‘yagam’ at the Secretariat. Post Jayalalithaa’s demise, the DMK is trying its best to divide the ruling AIADMK. This divisive politics is not going to help the opposition party,” he said, adding that the DMK is capitalising on the Kodanad estate issue for electoral gains.
