Jallikattu or bull taming is one of the popular sports in Tamil Nadu and it has been witnessing many injuries of participants and even deaths.
A PIL filed in Madras HC requested for a common insurance policy for participants and spectators of Jallikattu. Honorable Judges KK Sasidharan and PT Adikesavalu, who heard the petition, asked TN Government's response regarding the same, as thousands of tamers and spectators are taking part in Jallikattu. Advocates Neelamegam and Mohd Rizvi argued that similar common insurance policy is being followed in temple festivals in TN.
More than 30 tamers and 2 spectators were injured in the Jallikattu event conducted at Koolamedu village near Attur in Salem district on Friday.
