Awareness to save the girl children
In a bid to set right the lopsided male female ratio in Tiruvannamalai district, the district administration arranged a train journey for 400 government higher secondary school girl students, to create awareness by traveling between Tiruvannamalai and Vellore districts, on Tuesday. The initiative was taken up under the central government’s “save the girl child; empower the girl child” scheme as the male female ratio in the district which was 930 females per 1000 males in 2013 slumped to 888 females per 1000 males in 2017-18. The administration has created a district level and block level task forces to create awareness on the importance of the girl child through various programs.
