Kamal leaves decision of contesting LS elections to party
Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) president Kamal Haasan on Wednesday said that his party will have an alliance with like-minded parties focused on eliminating corruption.

“MNM will ally with parties which share our objective of eliminating corruption and on the growth of Tamil Nadu,” he said, after inaugurating the West Zone party headquarter office in Pollachi.
Further, the actor-turned-politician said that his party will decide if he will contest the elections or not.
“I cannot decide on me contesting the elections individually as it has to be decided only by the party. It has to be decided by taking all factors into consideration. Our focus will not be just Tamil Nadu politics alone as it is inevitable to do politics by leaving Delhi,” he said.
On the Kodanad controversy, Kamal sought an unbiased probe into the murder-cum-heist incident. “Kodanad now stands as AIADMK’s symbol of betrayal of people. It is not a charge raised for elections as claimed by Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, but has to be probed to find out the truth,” he said.
The MNM president also said that his party has been in consultation with experts to arrive at a solution to issues faced by farmers, un-employment and problems faced by poor people.
“More focus should be to address pressing problems on conserving water bodies, improving women health and enhance the quality of education,” he said. On government freebies, Kamal said that the government should strive to give free education and free health care facilities to people. “I wouldn’t be right to call my entry into politics to do service, but it’s my duty towards people of Tamil Nadu, who celebrated me over the last 60 years in cinema,” he said.
