359 diffabled persons get job orders at fair
As many as 359 participants were issued job orders at Tamil Nadu’s first job fair for the differently-abled, conducted jointly by the Vellore district administration and a NGO, on Saturday.

While 1,400 persons had registered for the fair online, a total of 2,400 differently-abled candidates from Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, krishnagiri and Dharmapuri districts attended the job fair, held at the private arts college in Vellore. The fair was inaugurated by Vellore district Collector SA Raman.
According to officials, a total of 130 companies screened as many as 1,065 candidates at the fair, following which, the Collector issued job orders to the selected 359 candidates on the spot. Besides, 50 other candidates were chosen for skill development training, officials said.
Those present at the fair included district differently-abled officer Senthil Kumar, NGO ‘Voice of the People’ founder Basith and Katpadi Worth trust executive officer Karthikeyan.
Earlier, the district Collector inaugurated an app, titled ‘Maaulaa’, which enables the differently-abled people to use the services of three-wheeler taxis in Chennai. The service would soon be extended to Vellore, said officials.
