    The government school students, who resorted to a road blockade to protest the police inaction over dumping

    Students of the Government Higher Secondary School at Poonkulam village near Alangayam blocked the road condemning the police inaction over the dumping of hooch sachets in the school compound wall, on Thursday.

    Locals also extended support by joining the students’ agitation and raised slogans criticizing the police inaction against hooch sellers.


    According to sources, local hooch sellers after brewing and selling the arrack, dump the empty sachets in the Government Higher Secondary School compound.


    Despite repeated appeals made by the students, police, failed to initiate any action to curb the menace. Agitated by this, the students blocked the road on Thursday and refused to attend classes demanding the police to take action on their plea.


    On information, school officials and locals rushed to the spot. The school officials promised to take up the issue with the police and appealed to the students to return to the school and attend the classes. Based on the assurance, the students returned to the school. Immediately, the locals gathered and raised slogans against the police.


    Following an assurance from the police, the locals dispersed from the spot. Cops also ensured that arrack sachets would not be dumped in the school compound anymore
